Future Education Centre's CAPS Curriculum pathway delivers South Africa's own national curriculum — fully accredited, exam-aligned and built for the local context — through a flexible, personalised learning model.

CAPS at FEC combines the structure and national recognition of the Department of Basic Education's framework with the pace, support and subject flexibility that today's learners need to thrive. It's a proudly South African qualification, delivered the future-ready way.
About the CAPS Curriculum
The CAPS Curriculum at FEC follows South Africa's National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement — the same framework used in public and many private schools nationwide — giving learners a comprehensive, standardised foundation that's built for progression into further study or careers within South Africa. The pathway is structured across five phases: Pre-Primary (Grade R), Foundation Phase (Grades 1–3), Intermediate Phase (Grades 4–6), Senior Phase (Grades 7–9) and the FET Phase (Grades 10–12), each building progressively toward the National Senior Certificate.
However a family chooses to engage with it — attending in person at our Future Education Centre facility, learning through our fully Online School, or using our Hub as a supported blended base — every student follows the same accredited CAPS pathway, with access to the same qualified teachers, resources and academic support. It's one curriculum, delivered through the mode of learning that works best for each learner.
In the FET Phase, students register for a minimum of seven subjects — four compulsory (including English, an additional language, and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy) and three electives chosen to suit their academic direction and future ambitions, from Accounting and Physical Science to Geography, History, Life Sciences and more.
Families aren't locked into a single support level either: subjects can be mixed and matched across our Starter, Standard and Premium tiers, so a student needing extra support in one subject can step up to Premium — with live lessons, small-group Q&A sessions and direct teacher chat — while continuing comfortably on Standard or Starter for the rest of their workload. It's a genuinely bespoke package, shaped around each learner rather than a one-size-fits-all timetable.
Assessment is designed to be both rigorous and supportive. From Grades 1 to 9, students complete assessments with detailed, personalised feedback from their FEC teacher. From Grade 10 onward, assessments follow the formal invigilation process required for national accreditation, with Grade 12 examinations written at an official examination centre — leading to the National Senior Certificate upon successful completion.
Beyond academics, CAPS students remain part of a connected school community — whether on campus, online or at the Hub — with social clubs, virtual events, competitions, learning pods and a parent forum ensuring that flexible learning never means learning in isolation.
